The UL (Underwriters Labratories) has issued a change in code for all GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor) receptacles. Hubbell Wiring Devices has stepped up to the challenge and has come up with a GFCI that will not only surpass the code change, but also let you know if the device is wired correctly. The new GFCI (from Hubbell) will have an indicator light on the face and will glow one color if the device is wired correctly and will glow an opposite color if it is wired incorrectly. Other companies will be different. When devices from other manufacturers are wired incorrectly, the GFCI will "lock out" and be no longer operable. This change in code comes from the number of faulty wiring of GFCI's. The new GFCI's aren't slated to come in to rotation until early 2003, but look to S.B.S. to find the right GFCI for your applications!
